Bridal Makeup Tips, Skincare & Wedding Beauty Advice | Skin & Veil Bridal

Behind the Scenes of a Chester-based Editorial Beauty Shoot | Featured in Intima Magazine.

There’s something incredibly rewarding about stepping outside the bridal world from time to time and collaborating with other creatives who share the same appreciation for craftsmanship, attention to detail and beautiful design.

One such project was the Spring/Summer Look Book for luxury sustainable swimwear label Half-an-Egg, founded by sisters Hannah and Beki McGee. Designed and made in England, the collection combined striking prints, sculptural silhouettes and signature knitted jewellery details to create a fresh and distinctive take on contemporary swimwear.

Before a brush touched the model's face, I spent time with the designers discussing the vision for the campaign. Understanding the mood, styling and overall creative direction is always an essential part of my process, whether I’m preparing a bride for her wedding morning or creating a look for a commercial shoot. Every make-up design should feel intentional and seamlessly connected to the wider story being told.

Inspired by catwalk beauty trends of the season, I developed a bespoke look centred around what I called a "Strong Nude" aesthetic. For our model, Jess, the brief was to create something effortlessly sun-kissed, yet undeniably editorial.

A rich chocolate-toned lip and softly brushed-up brows brought a contemporary edge to the look, while carefully placed contouring enhanced the natural structure of the face. The eyes remained luminous and understated, with delicate shimmer catching the light to mirror the playful energy and movement within the collection itself.

Creating a look that appears effortless is often the result of the most considered artistry. Every product was selected for its performance in front of the camera, helping to achieve skin that looked naturally radiant whilst maintaining the polished finish required for professional photography.

For those who love a peek inside my kit, some of the hero products included Graftobian HD Base, Graftobian HD Pro Powder, Charlotte Tilbury's Golden Goddess Eye Palette and NARS Night Breed Eye Cake.

What made this collaboration particularly memorable was seeing the finished campaign gain international recognition. The editorial was featured in Intima Magazine, one of France's leading lingerie and beachwear publications. Seeing my work showcased alongside such an esteemed publication remains a personal career highlight and a proud reminder of where creativity, collaboration and attention to detail can lead.

One of my favourite aspects of editorial work is watching a beauty concept evolve from an initial mood board into the finished imagery. The photographs below capture that journey, showing the look as it developed from the first eye detail through to the completed make-up design.

While my heart will always belong to bridal beauty, opportunities like this continue to inspire my work today. Whether creating a flawless look for a fashion campaign or a timeless bridal look for a wedding day, the goal remains the same: beautiful, considered make-up that feels effortlessly luxurious.
