Luxury Bridal Makeup Kit Secrets: Why I Never Throw Away a Lipstick

As a Bridal Make-Up Artist, there are two things my brides quickly discover about me...

Firstly, I never travel light.

Secondly... I own far more make-up than any one person could ever justify.

Whether I'm arriving for a bridal trial, a wedding morning or an editorial photoshoot, you'll usually find me juggling multiple cases, bags and boxes. Every product has earned its place in my kit because every bride is different. Different skin tones, different undertones, different preferences and different visions all deserve carefully considered products—not a one-size-fits-all approach.

It's one of the reasons I invest so heavily in professional, luxury make-up brands. Having the perfect shade when you need it is worth every inch of luggage space.

Or at least... that's what I tell myself.

Why Every Bridal Makeup Artist Needs a Professional Makeup Palette

Eventually, practicality has to win.

Over the years I've built a collection of palettes from brands including Morphe, Charlotte Tilbury, Natasha Denona, Estée Lauder, NARS and many more. They're an invaluable part of a professional bridal make-up kit, allowing me to carry an extensive colour range without bringing an entire beauty counter to every wedding.

The one area that was becoming slightly... excessive?

Lipsticks.

I simply couldn't commit to one brand. Every formula offers something different, and over the years I'd accumulated favourites from several luxury brands that my brides absolutely loved.

So I decided to create my own custom lipstick palette using the MAC Pro Large Duo Palette and refill inserts. It keeps my favourite shades organised, hygienic and easily accessible during busy wedding mornings.

Then I discovered something I genuinely wish I'd known years ago.

Bridal Beauty Tip: There's More Lipstick Left Than You Think

Like many people, I'd always assumed that once I'd reached the end of the lipstick bullet, that was it.

Finished.

Time to buy another one.

Not quite.

After carefully depoting my lipsticks (which admittedly involved a spatula, a chopping board, a little sunshine and some fridge space afterwards!), I discovered there was far more product hidden inside the tube than I'd ever realised.

And I don't mean a tiny scraping.

In many cases, there's around a quarter of the lipstick still sitting inside the packaging.

Take one of my all-time favourite bridal shades: Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G in Bitch Perfect. Once the lipstick appears finished, there's still a surprising amount tucked away inside.

It's one of those discoveries that, once you've seen it, you can never unsee.

How to Make Your Favourite Luxury Lipstick Last Longer

If you're trying to make your favourite lipstick last a little longer, don't throw it away the moment the bullet disappears.

Use a clean lip brush or gently depot the remaining product into a small cosmetic pot or palette. Not only will you get much more use from your lipstick, but you'll probably save yourself replacing it quite so often.

As for me?

I'll continue turning up to weddings carrying far too much make-up.

Some habits are simply beyond saving.

But if this little tip helps you get a little more life from your favourite lipstick, then perhaps all those overflowing makeup cases are worth it after all.

If you're looking for a luxury bridal makeup artist in Chester, Cheshire or North Wales who believes beautiful makeup starts with exceptional products and meticulous attention to detail, I'd love to be part of your wedding morning.
