Last week was a real treat for me as I spent the evening with one of my very best friends, designing her bridal makeup look.
We first met back in 2013 after a cancelled Zumba class at our local gym. Bonding over our shared love of travel, we jumped onto neighbouring treadmills and, truthfully, we've barely stopped talking (or travelling) ever since.
So, it somehow feels incredibly fitting that she's now jetting off to Greece to marry the love of her life.
Although I won't be there to do her makeup on the day itself, it was such a privilege to spend time sharing my knowledge, favourite products and techniques during a one-to-one bridal makeup consultation. This is probably my favourite question.

For me, that answer is often far more important than any Pinterest image.

Perhaps you love your eyes.
Maybe you'd like glowing skin.

Knowing what you already love helps me enhance your natural beauty rather than trying to change it.
Is there anything you'd rather soften or disguise?
Many brides mention redness, pigmentation, blemishes, under-eye circles or textured skin.
These are all incredibly common concerns, and understanding them helps me choose the most flattering products and techniques to help you feel your absolute best.
Have you chosen your dress and accessories?
This often surprises brides.

Delicate pearl earrings create a different feel to bold gold statement jewellery, and I always want your makeup to complement your styling rather than compete with it.

Have you saved any inspiration photos?
Pinterest and Instagram are wonderful starting points.
I always encourage brides to bring a few images they love—but equally, show me the looks you don't like too.
One of the biggest pieces of advice I can give is to look for inspiration from women with similar skin tones, eye colours and hair colours to your own. You'll find it much easier to imagine how those looks might translate to you.

- Save a handful of makeup inspiration images beforehand—but don't worry if you aren't sure exactly what you want. That's what your trial is for.
- Think about what you love, like and dislike about makeup before you arrive.
- If you're considering dermaplaning, try booking it alongside your trial or a few days beforehand. Removing fine facial hair and dead skin cells creates a beautifully smooth canvas and helps makeup sit more flawlessly.
